الله تبارك وتعالى خلق الناس ليعبدوه ، أي : ليفردوه بالألوهية والعبودية ، فنعمة الإيجاد تقتضي على العاقل أن يشكر الذي أوجده ، فإذا جحد وجوده أو جحد إنفراده بالألوهية ، فقد نقض العهد ، الذي أُخذه عليه في عالم الذر ، وجحد دلائل شهود افعاله ، وجحد فطرته الي تدفعه إلى الإيمان .
فمن كان هذا شأنهم : فقد استحقوا المحو من الوجود بالإستئصال والإفناء ، والمراد بالظلم هنا : الإشراك بالله تعالى ، أما ما دون ذلك من المعاصي أو ظلم المخلوقات فقد شرع الله عقوبات (الحدود والقصاص) .
فوجه اقتضاء العقاب على الشرك : إفناء جميع المشركين ودوابهم ، وهذا لايحصل إلا بحوادث عظيمة مثل : الصيحة أوالخسف أو الإغراق كما حصل لقوم نوح وعاد وثمود .
فذلك من شأنه أن يعم إهلاك غير الظالمين ودوابهم وقد دل قوله تعالى : ( ولكن يؤخرهم إلى أجل مسمى ) : فتأخيرهم متفاوت الآجال ، لتبقى الأرض عامرة بالمخلوقات ،
والمظالم التي تٌرتكب في العالم الآن ، والتي أكثرها فظاعة ووحشية ودموية ما يرتكبه حكام سوريا ، وداعش: فتأخير نزول العقوبة على هؤلاء الظلمة هي من هذا الباب : وهي شواهد على تأخيرالعقوبات المشار إليها في الآية .
(ولا تحسبن الله غافلا عما يعمل الظالمون إنما يؤخرهم ليوم تشخص فيه الأبصار). وإن غدا لناظره قريب .
