ثم يقف الإنسان مرة أخرى أمام عظمة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم ، فهو لا يقرر حتى يسأل : ( ما حملك على ما صنعت ) ؟ : في سعة صدر وعطف على لحظة الضعف الطارئة على نفس صاحبه ، ثم يدرك أنه قد صدق ، ثم يكف الصحابة عنه : ( صدق لاتقولوا إلا خيراً) . أي : لا تعنفوه .
ثم نرى الإيمان الحاسم في شدة عمر : قد خان الله ورسوله والمؤمنين ، فدعني أضرب عنقه . فعمر رضي الله عنه : إنما ينظر إلى العثرة ذاتها فيثور لها حسه الحاسم وإيمانه الجازم . أما الرسول ، فينظر من خلال ادراكه الواسع للنفس البشرية وفي موقف المربي العطوف المتأني الناظر إلى جميع الملابسات .
هكذا جاء قدر الله أن يكون حاطب صاحب أحداثها ، ليكون درساً تربوياً إيمانياً لهذا الجيل الفريد والأجيال القادمة عبر القرون .
وهذا الحدث في فهم هذه الأجيال خيانة عظمى ينصب لها المشانق ، وتشكل لها اللجان بعد الضرب والتضييق . ولكن تأمل كيف أغلق الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم ملفها في بضع دقائق وطمس آثارها ، ولم يعمل منها قضية كبرى ليشغل الجيش .
