يا سيدي والله إني أحبك ذكر أحد طلاب السلف : بإنه دخل على شيخه العباس المرسي رحمه الله . فقال أتيت إليه فاستؤذن لي عليه ، فلما دخلتُ عليه ، قام قائماً وتلقاني ببشاشة وحسن إقبال حتى دهشت خجلاً واستصغرت نفسي أن أكون أهلاً لهذا المقام والحفاوة ، فكان أول ماقلت له : ـ يا سيدي والله أني أحبك ، فقال : أحبك الله كما أحببتني فيه . ثم شكوت إليه ما أجده من هموم وأحزان وضيق ، فقال رضي الله عنه : أحوال العبد ، أربعة لا خامس لها النعمة والبلية ، والطاعة والمعصية : فإن كانت نعمة ، فمقتضى الحق منك الشكر وإن كانت البلية فمقتضى الحق منك الصبر . وإن كانت المعصية فمقتضى الحق منك ، وجود الإستغفار .فقمت من عنده ، وكأنما كانت الهموم والأحزان ثوباً نزعته من عليّ . واعلم أنه إذا وقع عليك أمر قهري : ( كالمصائب والبلايا والشدائد ) فإنما هي تعريف من الله لك على ضعفك ، وتعريفك بجلال وعظمة مولاك وعزته . والذي يعينك على تقبل هذه الأمور القهرية ، التسليم والإذعان لله تعالى بأنه أعلم بمصالحك وأنه يبتليك ليرفع شأنك ، وأن مثل هذه العقوبات التي تقع عليك إنما لتحرك فيك الإحساس باليقظة لتستقيم أمورك ، وتتجنب مساخط الله تعالى . المطالب العالية
